Who is this plan for?

Why do desi diets stall?

Pakistani meals are not the problem. The usual culprits are portion size, cooking oil and ghee, refined flour, sugary chai, late dinners and liquid calories like juices and lassi. A typical day can easily hide 500–800 extra calories in oil and sugar alone. Sadaf finds your specific leaks rather than banning whole food groups.

Smart desi swaps

Instead of Try Why it helps
2 parathas with ghee 1 chakki-atta roti + 1 egg omelette in a teaspoon of oil Cuts ~250 kcal and adds protein to keep you full
Doodh patti with 2 sugars Less sugar, then none; or green tea Up to 100+ kcal saved per cup
Restaurant karahi Home-style chicken salan with measured oil Oil is the biggest hidden calorie
Biryani plate Half portion + raita + salad Same taste, much less energy
Packet juice / Rooh Afza Water, lemon water or lassi without sugar Removes liquid sugar
Late-night snacking Finish dinner 2–3 hours before bed Better sleep and appetite control

How Sadaf's weight loss plan works

  1. Assessment: weight, waist and body measurements, labs (thyroid, sugar, lipids, vitamin D), sleep, stress and current eating pattern.
  2. Calorie and protein target: a moderate deficit with enough protein (eggs, daal, chicken, dahi) to protect muscle.
  3. Meal structure: 3 meals, with snacks only if needed, timed to your work and sleep. Many clients use elements of the SWIPE circadian programme.
  4. Movement: realistic walking and strength goals. Not a gym prescription.
  5. Follow-ups: the plan is adjusted as weight, hunger and energy change, including for Ramadan, Eid and wedding season.

What results are realistic?

Safe, lasting fat loss is about 0.5–1 kg per week. In the first two weeks you may lose more, mostly water. Sadaf tracks waist size and energy alongside the scale, because muscle and fluid can mask fat loss.

In clinic or online?

Both work. In-clinic visits at E-11/3 add body measurements. Online consultations suit busy professionals and overseas clients.

Illustrative only: a safe pace of 0.5–1 kg per week from a starting weight of 85 kg.

How does Sadaf work out your calories?

Sadaf starts from your resting metabolic rate (estimated, or measured in clinic with body composition), adds your daily activity, and sets a deficit of roughly 300–500 kcal. Very low-calorie plans are avoided unless medically supervised. They raise hunger hormones, lower energy and cost you muscle. Try the estimate yourself:

Daily calorie & protein calculator

Mifflin-St Jeor estimate. Medical conditions, pregnancy and medication change your needs, so a dietitian sets your real target.

What will I actually eat?

The plan is written as meals you already know, not a list of grams. A typical week might include:

Meal Monday Wednesday Saturday
Breakfast Vegetable omelette + 1 small roti Besan cheela + dahi Oats with milk, cinnamon and apple
Lunch Chicken salan + salad + 1 roti Chana pulao (½ cup) + raita Fish curry + sabzi + ½ cup rice
Snack Guava + 6 almonds Roasted chana Lassi without sugar
Dinner Moong daal + lauki Chicken shorba + salad Daal mash + bhindi

The plateau problem, and how we break it

Most people stall at 4–8 weeks. At follow-ups Sadaf checks five things:

  1. Portion drift: oil and roti sizes creep back up
  2. Weekend pattern: dawats, takeaway, late nights
  3. Protein: too little lets muscle (and metabolism) drop
  4. Sleep and stress: cortisol and poor sleep raise appetite
  5. Hidden medical causes: thyroid, PCOS, medicines such as steroids or some antidepressants

The plan is then adjusted with calorie cycling, meal timing (SWIPE) or a new activity target, not just "eat less".

Weight loss and medical conditions

If you also have… What changes in the plan
Type 2 diabetes Carb portions matched to medication; hypo prevention
PCOS Insulin-focused, higher protein, strength training
Hypothyroidism Medication timing; realistic, slower targets
Fatty liver Zero sugary drinks; 7–10% loss target
Knee or back pain Low-impact activity; anti-inflammatory foods
On GLP-1 medicine (e.g. semaglutide) Protein and muscle protection, small meals, hydration

Check your waist, not just your weight

Belly fat matters more for health than total weight. South Asians develop diabetes and heart risk at lower BMIs than Europeans, so Sadaf uses Asian cut-offs.

Waist-to-height ratio check

NICE (2022): keep your waist to less than half your height. 0.5–0.59 means increased risk; 0.6 or more means high risk.

Frequently asked questions

How much weight can I lose in a month with a dietitian?

Most people can safely lose 2–4 kg a month on a structured plan. The rate depends on starting weight, hormones, sleep and consistency. Sadaf sets targets after reviewing your labs and routine.

Can I lose weight while eating roti and rice?

Yes. Weight loss depends on overall calories, protein and consistency, not on banning roti or rice. Plans adjust portions, flour type and pairings so you keep familiar meals.

Do you give a 1200-calorie diet?

Not by default. Calorie targets are calculated for your body, activity and health conditions. Very low-calorie plans often backfire through hunger, muscle loss and regain.

Why am I not losing weight even though I eat less?

Common reasons are hidden oil and sugar, liquid calories, poor sleep, low protein, thyroid or PCOS, and water retention. An assessment identifies which apply to you.
